This Three volume anthology
offers a representative cross section of 150 years of organ music in
Russia and former Soviet Union. Its layout reflects the three main currents
- German and French organ traditions and Russion folk music - and their
most important advocates, thereby providing an exciting survey extending
to the present day.
Each volume in this bilingual publication is arranged in chronological
order and contains a detailed historical overview and a text critical
report with list of sources.
A preface gives information on editorial policy and notes on performance
practice (e.g. suggested registrations from the editor). The textual
section concludes with brief biographies of the composers involved.
An authoritative edition of previously unpublished or largely inncessible
music in Russia, edited by one of Moscow's leading concert organists
and musicologist.
